It’s lashing rain down. Night closed in hours ago and the torrential weather is pure El Nino. The humid day has given way to a wet and windy evening as the Impreza’s headlights struggle to penetrate the dark, lighting a perilous path home.

Welcome to the Impreza GX. This auto won’t get even half the attention of its limelight-basking WRX elder sister. Yet the GX represents the greatest improvement over the auto it replaces than does the WRX. Let’s just say that the GX contributed more than any other model to the Impreza range.

Subaru Impreza Leaked Pictures

Subaru Impreza WRX STI recently returned at the version that made it famous, the sedan, and the diversification of the line up is now made by offering an automatic transmission. Just like it was done for the hatchback, this version is called A-Line, and comes with the same five gears transmission from Subaru, a gearbox they called SPORTSHIFT. This transmission has a feature named Downshifting Blipping Control which synchronizes the rpms with the gear for down shifting as smooth as possible.

The engine used on Impreza WRX STI A-Line is obviously the same turbocharged 2.5-liter boxer which develops 300 HP and 258 lb-ft of torque. Subaru didn’t tell us so far if the A-Line transmission helps or sightly inhibits the dynamic behavior of the WRX STI sedan, the numbers for the 0-60 mph sprint being undisclosed and so is the top speed.

The 2010 Subaru Impreza line, which features Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive as standard, gains more of the premium amenities that more of today’s compact car customers are seeking. A new Special Edition Package for the Impreza Premium trim line equips the 4-Door sedan or 5-Door model with a power moonroof, fog lights and the All-Weather Package featuring heated front seats, heated exterior mirrors and windshield wiper de-icer.

The 2010 Impreza line includes the 2.5i, Outback Sport and 2.5GT. The 2.5i is powered by a naturally aspirated, 170-hp 4-cylinder Boxer engine and available in 4-Door sedan and 5-Door models. New for 2010, the Premium trim line replaces the previous Premium Package, and the Special Edition Package adds the aforementioned vehicle upgrades to the Premium trim line. The available navigation system in the 2.5i Premium now includes Bluetooth hands-free phoning capability, with a microphone located in the overhead console. All Impreza models feature a new grille for 2010.
